Statement

I work with experiments to produce images: geometrical, juxtaposed, stylized camouflaged or out of focus. It's a research inspired in entertainments like puzzles, dot connections, or optical ilusion. This way I try to instigate the look, the interest, the curiosity, doubt, using extensive variety of details, ambiguous pictures or playful contents.
I consider there are many paths and when I make choices in every decision moment, the result will be more refined into some more particular. Considering other arts are particular as well. I'm interested in researching new tools, new techniques and possible effects with the acrylic painting on canvas or printing ink on paper. Some tools serve techniques such as impression, dripping or the need of hangings with different dilution and viscosity.
I believe in the influence of previous studies and experiences in the field of Mathematics and Physics in my first paintings. The period of stay in the Frech Britain; exhibiting, participating in festivals and visiting museums, have significantly contributed to changes and progress in my work. The atelier is for me a workshop, a laboratory, a storage and office, where I mix pleasure, freedom and discipline to think, to look for inspiration, to research, to entertain and to produce.
The practice and the artistic dreaming give me meaning in life, with long term projects. Personally it enlightens a path and a goal. I suppose it is my way to contribute to a move harmonic society, when I try to offer my works withe objective of creating a pause, a moment of entertainment or an invitation to other perceptions.

Works

Paintings and Printmaking

In this series of engraving I try to show a visual interpretation of the Brazilian handicrafts and place on the fabric, as the patchwork tapestry, embroidery and lace. A vast material was researched to be initially compiled and expressed with acrylic paint on canvas and only a few years later was transposed to a research in relief engraving. The compositions are almost always balanced, with curves and minutiae referring to the balance of the researched compositions, arabesques are created from the observation of different bushes and branches of vegetation in the cerrado. The theme chosen for these compositions was the fauna and flora, for the ease that it brings. I try to style the figures by giving them a handcrafted treatment. The stroke used, wants to reveal a plot, a line treated by a handmade tool and transmit a handmade appearance. The wealth of details is present in all the researched material. I build the parts using a universe of different textures, wefts and strands, in order to create a smooth aesthetic set and rescue the wealth of the production of various segments from artisans.
